Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the sixth plenary session, the Senate reviewed the Law on the Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan on Allied Relations, which was signed on 23 August 2024, in Tashkent.
The discussion emphasized that this Treaty, now subject to ratification, was signed by the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan during the first meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council held in Tashkent.
The Treaty marks a new phase in interstate relations, aimed at further strengthening the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sustainable economic development of both countries.
It also outlines the obligations of the parties, including non-participation in blocs or alliances directed against each other, as well as refraining from actions that could harm the strategic partnership and allied relations.
The ratification of this Treaty by law will enhance mutual trust, improve friendly ties, and elevate the level of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, the Treaty creates favorable conditions for expanding political cooperation, developing trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations, and implementing new joint projects. It also opens new opportunities for strengthening ties between the regions of both countries and advancing projects in sectors such as logistics, energy, industry, education, and tourism.
