Senate approves law on ratification of the ILO Convention on part-time work

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of Uzbekistan, during its 55th plenary session, reviewed and approved the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the ratification of International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 175 concerning Part-Time Work (Geneva, on 24 June 1994).

This Convention has been ratified by 20 countries worldwide and aims to ensure fair working conditions and protection against discrimination in wages and social security for part-time workers.

The provisions of the Convention apply to all individuals employed under part-time conditions. During the discussions, it was emphasized that part-time workers should have equal rights and enjoy the same social protection as full-time employees.

Senators noted that the norms of the Convention align with Uzbekistan’s legislation and the goals of the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy.

The ratification of the Convention is expected to provide additional guarantees for protecting the rights of part-time workers and significantly advance the development of the national labor protection system.

Senators also highlighted that the ratification of the Convention supports the enhancement of national legislation and the effective implementation of international labor standards, demonstrating Uzbekistan’s commitment to fundamental international principles and standards for ensuring workers’ rights.

Following the discussions, the Law was approved by the senators.
