The seminar was organized for workers of courts, law enforcement bodies, tax and customs bodies and was dedicated to protection of intellectual property rights.
The seminar participants considered such issues as protection of intellectual property, international agreements and legal framework on intellectual property protection, counterfeiting and piracy and other violations of intellectual property rights in the countries of Central Asia, the experience of fighting crime, etc.
The event attracted specialists of WIPO, law enforcement bodies, judicial, tax and customs bodies, as well as other interested organizations of Central Asia and Russia. European specialists of the WIPO conducted the seminar.
Uzbekistan pays a great attention to protection of intellectual property. The country joined 12 international agreements on protection of intellectual property. Uzbekistan adopted six laws in this area. Uzbekistan soon can join two more agreements on copyright.
In last eight months of 2013, Uzbekistan revealed over 600 violations and over 100,000 counterfeited disks worth 1.5 billion soums were seized.
