Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights has fined MARKETPLACE TRADING, the owner of the Sello marketplace, for false advertising.
According to the agency’s press service, the case was initiated after an investigation into an advertisement that claimed users could make money transfers through the Sello Pay app with no commission.
It was found that the advertisement failed to mention important terms of the promotion. Since 1 July, a promotion has been running on the company’s website for new users who have completed identification, valid for three months. If the monthly transfer volume exceeds 3 million sums, a 1% commission is charged on amounts above this threshold.
The company was held accountable for violating the "Advertising" and "Protection of Consumer Rights" laws, resulting in a fine and an order to rectify the violations.
