Second stage of polio immunization campaign starts in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The second stage of polio immunization campaign started in Uzbekistan on 7 June. The campaign will cover 2.9 million children at the age of up to five years.
As earlier reported, the first stage of the national campaign was held on 17-23 May 2010, which allowed to vaccinate 2.9 million children.
The second stage will last till 13 June 2010 and over 7,000 clinics, medical centers and the special vaccination points of Uzbekistan are participating in repeat oral polio vaccination.
According to the specialists, repeat vaccination will help to prevent spread of polio virus and form immunity to the decease among children.
