The Brazilian tactician was speaking after the Uzbek outfit’s two-week-long training session in the UAE, which saw them play a series of matches in preparation for the continent’s premier club competition.
“We don’t have any more foreign camps before hosting Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad on February 23. The camps in Dubai helped players increase their tactical skills and physical condition and I am satisfied with the performance of the players,” said Scolari.
“Our players just returned from the vacation and we are step by step getting them into their top physical condition.”
Scolari said 2008 AFC Player of the Year Server Djeparov was in better shape compared to the others.
“Djeparov, however, was in the best shape compared to his teammates.”
Bunyodkor have played four friendly games this year starting with a 1-0 victory over Metallist (Ukraine) but lost by the same scoreline to Russian side Zenit.
Scolari’s men thrashed Oman’s Al Nahda 6-1 with goals from Denilson, Stevica Ristik (two each), Djeparov and Ramos, and, on Tuesday, drew goalless with UAE’s Al Jazira.
“The matches showed we worked well during the winter camps and increased our tactical skills and physical conditions,” said Scolari.
The other teams Bunyodkor will play in the AFC Champions League are Al Wahda (UAE) and Iran’s Zob Ahan.
