Uzbekistan28/09/2007SCO to discuss counter-terrorism measures for Olympics
Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will discuss joint anti-terrorism measures to secure the Beijing Olympic Games next year in a meeting in Russia on Friday.
SCO’s Regional Anti-Terror Agency will host the meeting in central Russia’s Yekaterinburg, which will involve representatives of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Thursday.
Those delegates will also find ways to improve cooperation between the SCO member states in fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism, and new mechanisms of interaction and information exchanges, the FSB said.
Founded in Chinese economic hub Shanghai in 2001, the SCO works to promote economic and security cooperation among member states, maintain regional peace, security and stability and contribute to the establishment of a fair, reasonable and democratic international order.
