Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prosecutor-generals of the member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conducted on Monday in Moscow a broad, thorough discussion over issues such as the regional security and the strike against transborder organized crimes.

All SCO member states have supported each other in the suppression of terrorism, extremism and separatism and in the crackdown on transborder organized crimes such as drug trafficking since the SCO was established, said Chinese Prosecutor-General Cao Jianming during the seventh meeting of SCO prosecutor-generals.

With closer cooperation and more effective strikes, SCO members have made great contribution to safeguarding regional economic prosperity, social stability and the well-being of the people, he said.

In order to beef up cooperation, Cao suggested that SCO members strengthen law enforcement to ensure regional security and stability, exchange information in time to form a joint force against criminal acts, improve working mechanism to enhance judiciary assistance, and deepen communication to build friendly ties.

Cao’s suggestions were widely accepted by other attendants.

Russian Prosecutor-General Yuri Chaika said that SCO prosecutor-generals shall further cooperate on protecting civil rights and on fighting economic and social wrongdoing amid the spreading international financial crisis.

Chaika hoped that prosecuting authorities of SCO members take concrete actions to strengthen the exchange of information and experience.

Prosecutor-generals of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also attended the meeting. The eighth meeting of SCO prosecutor-generals is slated for November, 2010 in China’s Fujian province.
