Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 June, the fifth meeting of energy ministers from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in the city of Ningbo, China. The event was attended by relevant ministers from the participating countries, as well as representatives of the SCO Secretariat.

The participants discussed the current state and prospects for the sustainable development of the energy sector amid ongoing instability in global energy markets.

Special attention was given to deepening multilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as energy security, protection of critical infrastructure, fostering investment partnerships, and promoting a just energy transition.

It was emphasized that these focus areas are essential for the sustainable development of the region’s energy system.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to continue joint work on a roadmap for implementing the SCO Member States’ Strategy for Energy Cooperation through 2030.

This roadmap aims to enhance coordination among member states and establish long-term priorities for energy collaboration.

Additionally, the session approved the draft Joint Statement of the SCO Heads of State Council on sustainable energy development.

The next SCO energy ministers’ meeting is scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026.
