Scientist from Uzbekistan awarded prestigious UNESCO Prize

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By decision of UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay, microbiology scientist, head of the Uzbek-Chinese joint laboratory at the National University of Uzbekistan, Dilfuza Egamberdieva was awarded the prestigious UNESCO-Carlos Finlay Prize in Microbiology 2023 for research in the field plant-microbiome interactions, plant stress tolerance, soil biology and microbial diversity.

Dilfuza Egamberdieva is known for her work on resilient and sustainable agricultural production systems. Her research focuses on environmental and social acceptability.

The UNESCO-Carlos Finlay Prize is a biennial scientific prize funded by UNESCO and the Government of Cuba. The award is named after Cuban physician and microbiologist Carlos Juan Finlay, famous for his research on yellow fever. It is awarded to scientists or research organizations for their outstanding achievements in the field of microbiology.
