On the opening round today former World No 5 Rainer Schuettler played percentage tennis to score a 6-1,6-4 win over Slovakian Marek Semjan in 1 hour 07 mins to make it to the second round. Schuettler will take on unseeded Alexander Peya of Austria who scored a 6-1,6-4 win over Michael Lammer of Switzerland in the first round.

Seventh seeded Gilles Muller of Luxemburg edged out Russian regular Andrey Kuznetsov 7-6(5),7-5 to make it to the second round . It was local lad and wildcard entrant Murad Inayatov who emerged the hero of the day as he knocked out higher ranked Slovakian Andrej Martin 7-6(7),6-4 in 1hr19 minute battle.Eighth seeded Andreas Haider - Maurer scored a easy 6-3,6-4 win over Czech player Dusan Lojda.

It was one of the biggest wins for the 499th ranked Inaytov who knocked out 189th ranked Martin. " I'm thrilled with my win and that too in front of my home crowd. I played very aggressive tennis and it paid off", said the 25 year old Inaytov who has been plagued by injuries this year.

In the first set both Inayatov and Martin traded breaks in the 4th and 7th games with the set going into a tiebreak. Both players served well in the tiebreak till 7-7 , Inayatov then took charge moving to the net , on the next two points and securing the 1st set. In the second set Inayatov raced to a 3-0 lead, but Martin came back to level scores at 3-3 . Uzbek Davis Cupper Inayatov then broke Martin in the 10th game and secure one his biggest career wins.

Seventh seed Croatian Ante Pavic, Second seeded Canadian Vasek Pospisil, third seeded Australian Rameez Juniad and fourth seeded Frenchmen Clement Reix made it to the main draw of the event from the qualifying rounds.
