Save Aral-2022 sports run takes place in Bukhara region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 4 September, the Cup of the Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekneftegaz and the second stage of the international marathon Save Aral - 2022 took place in Bukhara region.

Employees of the largest enterprise in the region - the Bukhara Oil Refinery (Bukhara Oil Refinery LLC), local sports communities and healthy lifestyle advocates took part in this event. The race was organized by the Athletics Federation and Uzbekneftegaz JSC with the support of the Ministry of Sports Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the khokimiyat of Bukhara region.

A feature of the autumn season of the Save Aral-2022 races is to involve not only the population, but also professional communities in mass sports. As part of the social project, the Cup of the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC is also held, which will become an additional incentive for employees of the oil and gas sector in the struggle for the best performance in running.

The race, which took place on 4 September, started from the adjacent territory of the Bukhara Oil Refinery and ended in the city of Karaulbazar. About 3,500 participants tested their strength in the 3 km race. Traditionally, competitions in the Bukhara region as part of the annual Save Aral social project gather up to two and a half thousand runners.

On the eve of sports competitions, employees of the Bukhara Oil Refinery took part in an environmental campaign to plant trees and sanitize the urban area from household waste in the Karaulbazar district. Carrying out environmental actions was a reflection of the main goals of the Save Aral social project - raising the level of environmental awareness and drawing attention to solving environmental issues in the Aral Sea area.

The social project Save Aral was also supported by foreign specialists from the structural divisions of Uzbekneftegaz JSC. One of them, Iemke Stlin, became the winner of the last race in Kashkadarya region, held with the participation of the Uzbekistan GTL plant. In an interview with regional media, she spoke about a number of environmental problems that are observed in the territory of her native country in South Africa - about massive deforestation and lack of fresh water for a growing population. “Carrying out such large-scale social actions will bring people together and call for priority measures in the field of environmental protection,” Emke Stlin emphasized.

The team of the Bukhara Oil Refinery actively introduces an environmental component in its activities and joins the celebration of international environmental dates, such as "Car Free Day", "World Cleanliness Day", "World Water Resources Day". Save Aral has become a new project for the Bukhara Oil Refinery, which combines sports, environmental and inclusive areas at the same time.

The participants of the Save Aral-2022 race with the best result were awarded by the management of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the Athletics Federation and the Bukhara Oil Refinery.
