Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 May, at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti.

The President of the EBRD, welcoming the head of the Uzbek delegation, noted the significant progress in relations with Uzbekistan, achieved over the past two years, largely due to cardinal reforms and innovations in the country’s economic model, initiated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the conversation, topical issues of current cooperation, prospects for expanding the project portfolio and priority areas for further interaction were also discussed.

Also, issues related to the organization and holding of a meeting of the Foreign Investors Council in June of this year, as well as the possible participation of the bank’s management in the Tashkent International Investment Forum in the fall of this year were raised.

Following the meeting, the mandate letters were signed on the implementation of a number of large-scale projects in the field of modernization of water supply systems in the regions of Uzbekistan totaling more than US$300 million.
