Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Samarkand has received an additional 8 new electric buses, as reported by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport.
Samarkand is the first city in Uzbekistan to participate in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) "Green Cities" program. As part of this initiative, electric buses are planned to be deployed on the city’s public transport routes.
It is worth noting that the first electric buses were delivered in May 2023 and began operating on route M1, which connects the railway station to Samarkand International Airport.
So far, 8 of the 30 electric buses planned for delivery in November have arrived. By the end of the year, an additional 64 units are expected, bringing the total fleet to 100 electric buses.
Currently, the new vehicles are being registered, after which the electric buses will be assigned to Samarkand’s public transport routes in accordance with the established procedures.
