Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Samarkand Region in Uzbekistan and Tianjin in China are planning to establish a modern industrial park worth US$1.6 billion. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration.
A Chinese delegation led by Cheng Min’er, Secretary of the Tianjin Party Committee, visited Samarkand.
Erkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Samarkand Region, held a meeting with Cheng Min’er, during which the development of bilateral relations between the two countries was discussed.
Cheng Min’er emphasized that the goal of the Chinese delegation’s visit to Uzbekistan is to strengthen cooperation between the states.
Erkinjon Turdimov proposed several promising areas for collaboration, including electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and others.
During the meeting, the parties discussed joint projects, including the creation of the Samarkand-Tianjin modern industrial park.
The industrial park is expected to be located in the Pastdargom District of Samarkand Region and will cover an area of 234.3 hectares. Its cost is estimated at US$1.6 billion.
The park will house 81 production facilities engaged in the manufacturing of medical, textile, chemical, construction, and agricultural products.
The parties agreed to maintain close contact to ensure the successful implementation of joint projects.
