Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand Airport entered the TOP 5 largest airports in Europe in terms of passenger traffic growth, according to the rating of the European division of Airports Council International.

According to the results of October, Samarkand Airport took 4th place in the category of regional and small airports with passenger traffic from 100 thousand to 1 million passengers per year.

During this period, there was an increase of 139% compared to October 2019. Over the 10 months of this year, the airport took 3rd place with an increase of 103.7% compared to the same period in 2019.

The airport’s route network continues to expand, and since the beginning of this year, flights to 7 domestic and 20 international destinations have been opened from Samarkand. Among them are Tel Aviv, Urumqi, Jeddah, Kuwait, Izmir, Mineralnye Vody, Ufa and Samara, Urgench were opened for the first time.
