Salary in Uzbekistan: Differences by industries and regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Data from the Statistics Agency for January-September 2024 shows significant differentiation in the average monthly salary across different sectors of the economy and regions of Uzbekistan.

The average monthly nominal salary of employees working in enterprises and organizations with legal entity status varies significantly by type of economic activity. This includes allowances, bonuses, incentive payments, compensation payments, and payments for unworked time, as well as personal income tax and union fund contributions.

In January-September 2024, the highest average monthly nominal salaries by region were recorded in Tashkent city (8,683.6 thousand soums), Navoi region (6,610.9 thousand soums), Tashkent region (4,954.5 thousand soums), Andijan region (4,462.8 thousand soums), and Bukhara region (4,199.3 thousand soums).

The highest growth rates in average monthly nominal salaries by region were noted in Tashkent city (120.1%) and Samarkand region (117.8%).

In the healthcare and social services sector, the highest salaries were found in banking, insurance, leasing, and credit-brokerage activities (14,488.8 thousand soums). In the information and communication sector, the average reached 12,799.7 thousand soums, while transportation and storage recorded 8,073.7 thousand soums and industry 6,286.7 thousand soums, all significantly above the national average. Conversely, the education and healthcare sectors had lower average monthly salaries at 3,484.7 thousand soums and 3,300.7 thousand soums, respectively.

In the trade sector, the highest average salary was in wholesale and retail trade of automobiles and motorcycles (7,431.3 thousand soums), while the lowest was in retail trade excluding automobiles and motorcycles (5,599.6 thousand soums).

For transportation and storage, the highest salary was in warehousing and auxiliary transport activities (10,209.6 thousand soums), while the lowest was in postal and courier services (3,743.4 thousand soums).

In the information and communication sector, the highest salary was in computer programming and consulting services (18,044.7 thousand soums), while the lowest was in telecommunications (10,807.4 thousand soums).

In banking, insurance, leasing, and credit-brokerage activities, the highest average salary was in insurance, reinsurance, and pension fund activities, excluding mandatory social insurance (16,833.0 thousand soums), while the lowest was in financial services excluding insurance and pension services (14,253.6 thousand soums).

In education, the highest average salary was in higher education (8,115.6 thousand soums), while the lowest was in preschool education (1,874.5 thousand soums).

In the arts, entertainment, and recreation sector, the highest average salaries were in Tashkent region (6,150.7 thousand soums), Tashkent city (4,817.5 thousand soums), and Kashkadarya region (4,541.9 thousand soums).

High growth rates were recorded in Fergana (131.3%) and Surkhandarya (124.0%) regions.

The data from the Statistics Agency for January-September 2024 are preliminary, while data from previous periods are final.
