Sadyk Rakhmanov’s solo exhibition opens his world of color
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center of National Arts is housing a solo exhibition of works by Uzbek artist Sadyk Rakhmanov. Dubbed “Muloqot” (Dialog), the exhibition presents over 70 artworks by Rakhmanov and will run until April 16, 2011. The art show was organized by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen.

Born in 1950 in Tashkent, Rakhmanov is a graduate of Benkov Art School. He also joined Tashkent Institute of Arts where he studied monumental painting under the tutelage of eminent artist Chingiz Akhmarov. His further collaborative work and friendship with the renowned artist had a major impact on his creative efforts; Akhmarov was able to instill in Rakhmanov a romantic feel of history, an understanding of esthetics and traditions of oriental medieval art. Rakhmanov is a member of IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen.

“Sadyk Rakhmanov is one of those artists who are valued in the world of art because he represents a genre as complex as monumental painting,” says Alisher Mirzayev, an art historian and academician. “His efforts deserve special attention and respect. This is why his creations adorn many buildings in the CIS countries. His creativity has a lot in common with that of Chingiz Akhmarov, who was his teacher and close friend. Sadyk has now many apprentices himself although monumental painting is a difficult discipline in terms of both learning and teaching.”

Rakhmanov’s creativity in monumental painting and mosaics can be seen on many buildings in Uzbekistan (Uzbekfilm, Agricultural College, the Museum of Armed Forces, Kamoliddin Bekzod Museum in Bukhara, etc) as well as in cities in Kazakhstan and Russia.

Sadyk Rakhmanov gained fame in the early 90’s when his triptych “Musicians” represented the art of Uzbekistan at an auction at Zaman Gallery in London. Appearing on numerous posters at the exhibition and on a catalog cover, the art work became the artist’s signature painting. Over the past decade his creativity has thrived and enriched itself, incorporating various trends in art, as evidenced by his solo show at the Center of National Arts.

“Here at the exhibition you can see pieces I created in different periods”, says Rakhmanov. “Each picture, sculpture and graphic work expresses my thoughts and forms a philosophy of life. This art show opens the door to my world. Many thanks to the Fund Forum and IJOD Association for organizing this exhibition and their ability to discover talents and, most importantly, for supporting them.”

The bulk of the exhibits at the solo show are paintings. The works on display reveal the artist’s preference for music themes and poetry. Among the works are “Musicians”, “Lazgi”, “Navruz”, etc. His other creations include works based on novellas about eminent poets and artists – “Alisher Navoi and Husein Baiqaro”, “Navoi and girls”, etc.

The new features in the artist’s creative work reflect works dedicated to his motherland and poetry about small villages and Sukoka settlement (Tashkent region). Bright decorative works within this theme reveal Rakhmanov as an original artist able to wield color, as someone who loves the colors of land and the hot air of the summer as well as the colorful attire of people in a suburban village.
