Russia, Uzbekistan start joint production of railway cars
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia and Uzbekistan started joint production of railway cars, VESTI.UZ reported quoting the press service of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways). The report said the Uzbek company received corresponding certificates and licenses to construct two types of railway cars with Russia’s Transmashholding.

In 2009, Tashkent Passenger Cars Repair Plant started to assemble new passenger railway compartment car with air conditioners. The company developed construction documents and to hold necessary tests in line with agreement of the scientific-introduction center Vagon (Saint Petersburg, Russia).

The cars have fire safety system, means of fire signal and fire extinguishing. The cars equipped with tools, which not burn in fire. The car designed for 36 passengers. The Uzbek plant produced 10 such cars and plans to produce another 12 by the end of 2009. In 2010, the plant will produce 20 passenger cars.

Foundary-Mechanic Plant received certificate and permission for serial production of cargo cars in Registrar of certificates of Federal Agency of Railway Transport of Russia. Currently, the first experimental cars were produced and were tested with the participation of the Russian specialists. Transmashholding and the Uzbek side prepared a project on organization of production of cargo cars.
