Uzbekistan 12/09/2008 Russia to hold exercises with CSTO members
The Collective Security Treaty Organization is an alliance that’s made up of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Members agree they won’t join any other military alliance or use aggression against each other.

Russian President Medvedev said, "Of course we need to raise the level of military skills of our armed forces as a whole. We will hold exercises and pay visits, and we will do this not only in Russia, where it is already being done regularly, but in countries that are our close allies."

Medvedev says Russia’s ready to hold military exercises with other states that want to expand military and technical cooperation with Moscow.

Russia’s two strategic long-range bombers flew to Venezuela on Wednesday. They arrived in South America ahead of planned joint military maneuvers between the two countries.

Medvedev says he ordered the flight at the invitation of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

He adds Russia is ready for full-scale coordinated cooperation with the US and other countries in response to terrorism.
