Russia introduces a ban on gasoline exports, the ban not affect Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia will suspend gasoline exports abroad for six months from 1 March.

At the same time, the ban will not affect fuel supplies to Uzbekistan.

The export restriction is being imposed due to an increase in seasonal demand for fuel on the Russian market.

The initiator of the export restriction was Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who sent an appeal to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in February 2024.

Russia had previously introduced restrictions on the export of automobile fuel - from September 21 to mid-November 2023.

According to the Statistics Agency, last year Uzbekistan purchased US$2.6 billion worth of mineral fuel, which is 46.7% more than in 2022.

It should be noted that AI-80 gasoline has risen in price in Uzbekistan from 6,800 to 7,000 soums.
