He stated that Russia has evacuated over 1,700 people from Yemen from 31 March to 23 April 2015, in a unique humanitarian operation carried out under conditions of an intensive regional conflict.
“Over 400 of the evacuees are Russian citizens and over 700 are CIS nationals, including 369 people from Uzbekistan, 135 from Tajikistan, 95 from Ukraine, 43 from Belarus, and several people each from Kazakhstan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he said.
“Also, we have evacuated 587 citizens of other countries, including 46 US nationals (19 of them were delivered to Moscow on the recent two flights), 250 Yemenis, 32 Syrians, 31 Cubans, 29 Poles, 24 Egyptians, seven Germans, seven citizens of Libya, six UK citizens, six Serbians, six Estonians, two Canadians, two Colombians, as well as people from Macedonia, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Lithuania, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Ethiopia and other countries,” Alexander Lukashevich added.
