Russia and Uzbekistan interested in joint transport projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia and Uzbekistan plan to actively develop joint transport projects to enhance economic cooperation and stimulate development in the Central Asian region. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev following a working visit to Uzbekistan.

He noted that Uzbekistan is a key economic partner for Russia.

"Both countries are interested in further deepening cooperation in the transport sector, as well as in implementing joint projects aimed at increasing the transit potential and export-import capabilities of the Central Asian region," emphasized Savelyev.

During the visit, Vitaly Savelyev held talks with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov. The Russian delegation also included representatives from the Ministry of Transport of Russia and JSC "Russian Railways."

As clarified by the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, the central theme of the negotiations was strengthening bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
