Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A round table was held at the Bureau for Diplomatic Service under the Ministry of Foreign affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the of representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and equivalent organizations.

The representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Committee provided explanations on the procedure for reimbursement of VAT paid upon acquisition of goods by foreign diplomatic missions and equivalent organizations for official utilization, and also for personal usage by diplomatic, administrative and technical staff and family members. It is important to highlight that VAT reimbursement was provided for by the new The Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which entered into force on 1 January 2020.

It should be noted that this procedure is widely used in developed countries so that diplomats, technical personnel and their family members reap the benefits from this opportunity.

The introduction of the procedure for reimbursement of value added tax paid when foreign citizens purchase goods for personal use, as provided for by the new Tax Code, was received with a positive feedback.

Also, as part of the meeting, employees of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Committee gave detailed answers to questions from participants.
