Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 14 August 2020, USAID’s Entrepreneurship and Business Environment Development Project and the Uzbekistan Venture Capital Association will hold a roundtable meeting "Formation and development of venture capital investment in the Republic of Uzbekistan", which will be held at 15:00 Tashkent time in online format.

The topic of discussion will be the improvement of legislation for the development of venture capital investment in the country with the participation of government bodies and the private sector, and interested organizations. The round table will also discuss issues on improving the legal framework for the development of the venture capital ecosystem.

Expert of the USAID Entrepreneurship and Business Environment Development Project Max Hurwitz will present international experience and best practices of global centers and recommendations on the need to include an option agreement, crowdfunding, convertible loan, legal form of limited partnership, and others in legislation.

The USAID Entrepreneurship and Business Environment Development Project aims to boost economic activity in Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Target sectors of activity: information and communication technologies, food industry, light industry (clothing and textile industries) and tourism.

The Venture Investment Association of Uzbekistan (a non-profit organization) provides support for the establishment and development of a venture capital ecosystem in Uzbekistan by raising capital for start-ups in the Uzbekistan ecosystem and establishing links between local and international ecosystems.
