Risk analysis at road checkpoints is being discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18-20 February 2020, Tashkent is hosting national seminar on risk analysis at road checkpoints, organized within the Border Management in Central Asia Programme (BOMCA), funded by the European Union.

BOMCA experts together with representatives of the Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan will review the basic principles of risk analysis in relation to road checkpoints. Participants will be acquainted with the principles of risk analysis developed by the FRONTEX Agency and implemented in the EU countries - methods for preparing the analysis, investigating signs of border violation, as well as the tasks and functions of the employees involved.

Based on the presented European experience, a comparative analysis of risk analysis systems in the Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Union will be carried out, as well as standard guidelines for risk analysis at the local level (for road checkpoints) will be developed.

The first BOMCA operations in Central Asia began in 2003 and, since then, BOMCA has strengthened the partnership between Central Asian Governments in the field of border management. The European Union allocated a sum of EUR 40, 1 million to BOMCA for the period of 2003 – 2019, out of which EUR 6, 6 million were assigned to its 9th implementation phase (2015 - 2019).
