Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Decree "On social support for the population of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and recognition of the rights to housing built by individuals" was adopted.

According to the Decree, in the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the right to lease a land plot on which citizens’ housing is located, built without title documents, as well as the right of ownership to buildings and structures located on it, is recognized.

In particular, for this, the citizen had to use this housing as his own - in good faith, openly and continuously from the period until 1 May 2018, which must be confirmed by the processing of satellite images, as well as the payment of land tax and property tax for the last 5 years .

The recognition of rights is formalized by the resolution of the Jokargy Kenes in accordance with the list of residential premises approved by the decisions of the district (city) Kengashes of people’s deputies.

Wherein:

- in the event of a dispute between applicants and (or) owners of adjacent land plots, decisions of district (city) Kengashes of people’s deputies are taken after the dispute is resolved;

- the deadline for the adoption by the district (city) Kengashes of people’s deputies of decisions and the introduction of amendments and additions to them is 1 August 2024;

- decisions of the district (city) Kengashes of people’s deputies and the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan are adopted after a legal examination in the relevant justice authority and come into force after official publication.
