Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament takes place in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The fifth Snejinka 2010 (Snowflake) Rhythmic Gymnastics Open Tournament presented performances by 90 young talented gymnasts aged 5-12 at “Forum Junior Sport” children’s complex, with winners and participants taking home prizes and presents provided by the Fund Forum.

The tournament started with exhibition performances by the trainees of sports clubs such as the Youth School of Sports Mastery, Olympic Reserve Youth School No22, Harmony Club, and “Forum Junior Sport” children’s complex. The skill show was followed the competition part of the tournament.

The girls took turns to come out on the carpet and demonstrate commendable skills to energetic music. They demonstrated agility, artistry and grace while skillfully wielding hula hoops, balls, clubs and ribbons.

The tournament also included skill shows by little wushu athletes. Boys dressed in silk kimonos showed the audience the beauty of this oriental sport. Equally noteworthy are the gymnasts’ colorful costumes, which made the arena look like a field of tropical flowers.

The tournament which was held in the form of a colorful festivity for the young gymnasts as well as their trainers and parents was a concluding event. The young athletes’ performance was rated according to 3 criteria: complexity, artistic features, and performance.

Clearly, a demanding jury and talented athletes are what guarantees a successful competition but the fans’ support matters as well. It is the support of parents who tirelessly shouted encouragingly “bravo” and “well done”, applauded and showed a deep sense of pride what created the warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the competitions at the Forum Junior Sport, established by the Fund Forum in 2005 with the goal of supporting and developing children’s sports in Uzbekistan.

The competitions were followed by the eagerly awaited awards ceremony for the winners. The winners whose names were read out received medals, prizes and diplomas.

The Father Frost and Snow Maiden who appeared toward the end of the event added to the new year atmosphere and handed presents to all the participants.

On this note the fifth Snejinka 2010 Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament concluded. The New Year will, without a doubt, bring new victories, new names and new hopes.
