Review competition titled “One Tree for Every Citizen” to be held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidential resolution “On measures to create climate-resilient agro-ecosystems and enhance the resilience of agricultural producers to climate change risks” has been adopted.

The Ministry of Agriculture is designated responsible for the activities aimed at adapting the agricultural sector to climate change, mitigating its negative impact on the climate, combating drought and land degradation, and preserving (restoring) biodiversity in pastures. It also involves the development and wide implementation of new innovative technologies within the framework of ensuring food security.

The National Program for Adaptation of Agriculture to Climate Change and Mitigation of the Sector’s Negative Impact on the Climate (National Program) has been approved.

One of the priority directions of the National Program is the effective organization of activities implemented in regions affected by climate change.

As part of the implementation of the nationwide project "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) and the creation of protective afforestation:

- Establishment of protective afforestation to prevent desertification and sand migration, water and wind soil erosion, as well as to improve the ecological environment in desert, mountainous, and foothill territories;

- Organization of demonstrative seminars for initiators on highlighting the benefits of covering field edges, pastures, and open land areas with cultural crops, shrubs, halophytes, and desert plants.
