A seminar on results and achievements of the joint project was held in Tashkent during the Quarterly Board meeting of Gosarchitectstroy. The seminar was attended by the Board members of Gosarchitectstroy, including headquarters and heads of all regional branches of the Committee.

The seminar included the number of presentations covered the wide range of topics delivered by the Gosarchitectstroy experts and UNDP/GEF project team, including development of contemporary educational programs for construction specialists on energy efficiency based on Danish and other international best practices, improvement of energy consumption at public buildings, technical application of Danish experience on energy efficient design, use of renewable energy solutions and other advanced construction technologies. Also, experience on practical application of energy efficient solutions in construction of buildings learned by the project team at the First Housing Forum in Hungary in April 2011 was shared with the participants of the seminar. “The experience of Bulgaria in cost effective insulation techniques of buildings has attracted the most interest from the participants of this seminar. They were eager to learn how the simple insulation measures could improve the energy efficiency in buildings”, - says the project expert Mr. Petr Pozichanyuk.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Mukhammadshokir Kholkhodjaev, National Project Coordinator and Head of department of Gosarchitectstroy, emphasized the importance of active involvement and cooperation of all stakeholders for successful implementation of the project. Specifically, Mr. Kholkhodjaev said: “Today we shared knowledge and experience of many countries in energy efficient design and construction, which we obtained at the Housing Forum in Hungary. This Forum was an ideal platform for all kinds of experts in knowledge exchange and it was highly productive for us to learn and further disseminate the world best practices of energy efficient solutions to the local experts”.

At the end of the seminar, participants discussed the ways to introduce international best-practices and potential areas for improvements on example of the project pilot sites where the proposed innovative approaches can be demonstrated. “In view of the global importance of promoting energy efficiency in buildings, the seminar served not only for theoretic knowledge uptake but also to exchange the practical experience, awareness raising and capacity development for us. Surely we are planning to implement the elements of energy efficient solutions in designing and constructing the buildings in Uzbekistan”, - said Mr. Rishat Kadirov, the leading expert of ToshuyjoyLITI design institution.
