Research Conference of CAREC kicks off in Almaty

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — CAREC announces its 4th Annual Research Conference titled "Rethinking Development Strategies: Green, Innovative, and Inclusive Growth for the CAREC Region." The conference will take place on 29-30 August 2024, at the KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The event is organized in collaboration with the College of Social Sciences and the China and Central Asia Research Center at KIMEP University, in partnership with the ADB Regional Knowledge Exchange Initiative and the China Regional Cooperation and Poverty Reduction Fund, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This year’s conference serves as a key platform for academic experts, government officials, and thought leaders to discuss pathways for sustainable development in the CAREC region. In the context of an increasingly complex global landscape, the event will focus on three critical themes: green development, innovation, and inclusiveness. These areas are crucial for addressing challenges such as climate change, technological disruptions, and social inequality.

"Research in regional development and climate change forms the foundation for the successful creation and implementation of strategies. The 4th Annual Research Conference of the CAREC Institute provides an excellent opportunity for experts from within and beyond the CAREC region to deepen their understanding of key development and climate issues. However, it is essential to ensure that accumulated knowledge is translated into concrete actions that deliver broad-scale sustainable impacts. Bridging the gap between research and effective action is a crucial task for think tanks such as the CAREC Institute," noted Johannes F. Linn, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.
