Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On the afternoon of 21 January, in Urumqi (Xinjiang), the first seminar of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of trade, economics, and culture and tourism 2024 was successfully held. It was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China and the Xinjiang and Tianjin Chamber of Commerce. The annual conference of the Xinjiang and Tianjin Chamber of Commerce was also held on the same day.

The event was attended by more than 500 people, including Deputy head of Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Abdusalamov Jamshid, Governor of Tashken Region Zoir Mirzaev, Mayor of Samarkand Umarov, governors and deputy governors of 12 regions of Uzbekistan. From China, business delegations, heads of the Commerce Department of the Autonomous Region, industry and trade associations, representatives of the Department of Culture and Tourism and other relevant authorities of the city of Urumqi, as well as representatives of various trade associations, enterprises in the field of trade, culture and tourism participated.

Governor of Tashkent region Zoir Mirzaev said during his speech: “Relations between Uzbekistan and China have developed positively since the times of the ancient Silk Road. And in recent years, relations between the two countries have become increasingly closer. Last May, the heads of the two states met in Xi’an and put forward a number of initiatives that provided more opportunities, including for business, to the people of the two countries. Relations between the two countries will continue to develop.”

Local entrepreneurs in Xinjiang highly appreciate the prospects for future cooperation between China and Uzbekistan. Thus, the chairman of the board of the trading company Xinjiang Marjiang (Xinjiang Marjiang International Trade Co., Ltd.) Roshangul said that with the support of the Xinjiang-Tianjin Chamber of Commerce, they are actively interacting with the Uzbek side to agree on the localization of production in Uzbekistan and hope that their products will be recognized by Uzbek consumers.

Friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Uzbekistan are impossible without the joint efforts of all parties. Deputy Chairman of the Urumqi Chamber of Foreign Trade Yang Anbin believes that Uzbekistan needs Chinese enterprises, and even more motivated entrepreneurs and various investments from China. Not only with Uzbekistan, Chinese entrepreneurs should actively visit all five Central Asian countries, invest, travel, study, making joint efforts to develop and strengthen China-Central Asia relations.

Since the beginning of 2024, China and Uzbekistan have been actively interacting and collaborating in various fields. Thus, on 5 January, in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, the premiere of the Chinese film “The Flower of Kashgar” took place, which became a symbolic event in the field of cultural interaction between the two countries.
