Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Agency) took part in the Monthly Meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan “Capital Markets Panel Discussion”, dedicated to trade and investment opportunities in Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by the Chairman of Uzbekistan Stock Exchange Georgy Paresishvili, Partner of the investment company Avesta Investment Group Karen Srapionov, and Senior Consultant of TBC Bank Group PLC Otar Sharikadze.
In his opening remarks, First Deputy Director of the Agency Vyacheslav Pak noted: “Over the past five years, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the country has been firmly committed to creating an enabling environment for the development of the capital market, recognizing its importance in attracting investment, promoting transparency and stimulating economic growth.
Over the years, Uzbekistan has implemented a number of reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the capital market. These reforms included measures to strengthen the regulatory framework, improve corporate governance practices, strengthen investor protection mechanisms and increase market liquidity.”
The participants discussed positive changes in the field of capital market regulation in Uzbekistan, problems that require solutions, as well as immediate plans and prospects in this area. The speakers talked about increasing the investment attractiveness of the local capital market for foreign investors, the peculiarities of the legal regime of the “regulatory sandbox”, the use of incentive systems for investors and issuers, as well as the promotion of innovations in the field of financial technologies.
