Representative of China mission to the UN Xing Jisheng denies US accusations against China about the coronavirus epidemic

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representative of Chinese mission to the UN, Xing Jisheng, on Friday denied the US accusations against China about the epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus / COVID-19 /.

After the UN General Assembly passed a resolution on COVID-19, a US spokesman, explaining his reasons for the vote, said that China, early in the spread of the virus, "hid the truth about the outbreak from the world, preventing researchers from gaining access to vital information." Xing Jisheng flatly denied this statement.

The Chinese diplomat noted that since the outbreak of COVID-19, China has openly, transparently and responsibly shared information with the international community, adding that as early as January 3 of this year, China began to regularly provide the United States with updates.

At the time, media reported that Washington recognized the threat of the virus at a very early stage, but deliberately downplayed it in order to avoid panic.

“So who is hiding the truth? Why does the United States, the country with the most advanced medical technology and healthcare system, have the highest number of confirmed cases? The international community has clear answers,” said Xing Jisheng.

If Washington is going to seriously fight the pandemic, then it should focus on protecting the life and health of its people, and not shifting the blame onto others, he stressed.
