Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 October, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report on the current efforts and plans in the field of technical regulation.
Uzbekistan aims to significantly enhance its production and export potential, with technical regulation, standardization, and metrology playing a key role in this endeavor. In line with the presidential decree from 27 February 2024, reforms in state management have been implemented, establishing new priority tasks in this area.
In recent years, 12,000 standards have been approved, and since the beginning of 2024, an additional 1,040 international standards have been adopted. To improve product safety and quality, 29 technical regulations have been developed, regularly communicated to enterprises and entrepreneurs, along with assistance in certification processes.
During the meeting, officials presented information on the results achieved so far, as well as plans for the remainder of the year and into 2025.
The President emphasized that creating an effective technical regulation system is crucial for successfully entering international markets and outlined new tasks. He noted that currently only 64 out of 269 laboratories in Uzbekistan are recognized internationally, which necessitates additional product testing during export.
The President instructed to increase the number of internationally recognized laboratories and to establish 10 new laboratories in key sectors such as electrical engineering, construction materials production, and machine engineering.
Uzbekistan is actively working towards joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the legislation in the field of technical regulation must comply with the organization’s requirements.
In 2024, it is planned to develop 340 national standards, with an additional 38 technical regulations to be created by the end of 2025. Special attention will be given to the digitalization of the work of 28 technical committees and laboratories, with the establishment of an electronic platform for "Technical Regulation."
Moreover, the President underscored the importance of training highly qualified specialists with modern knowledge and skills aligned with international standards, and instructed to enhance the training system in this field.
