Registration opens for Bukhara Night Race

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the Samarkand Marathon charitable series, the Bukhara Night Race will be held for the third time on 24 August 2024, in Bukhara. The event is organized by the Development Fund of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan.

The event features nighttime races along an illuminated track starting at sunset. It is the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, attracting athletes and enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.

The race route winds through the historic part of the city, with participants running amidst famous landmarks, mosques, madrasas, caravanserais, and unique ancient structures. This year, registrations are open for races covering distances of 5 and 10 km, Nordic walking, and a children’s race for participants starting from 4 years old.

In addition to these categories, the event includes "plogging" - running while collecting litter, which has become a tradition since ZAAMIN ULTRA 2024. Participants aged 16 and above can join in plogging, and parents can participate with their children. At the end of the plogging event, there will be a prize draw among the participants sponsored by event partners.

Last year, more than 1600 athletes from 20 countries participated in the Bukhara Night Race. This year, the number of participants is expected to nearly double to 3000. Additional slots will also be available in the children’s race.
