Regional Statement from the countries of Central Asia for the 28th UN Conference on Climate Change was discussed in Almaty

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan take part in a meeting of country representatives on the preparation of a Regional Statement from the countries of Central Asia for the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The meeting is held in Almaty on 24 July 2023.

This meeting is a negotiation process to get acquainted with the main trends and global processes of preparation for the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28) of the UNFCCC, as well as to develop the position of countries on joint preparation and organization of a single pavilion of Central Asian countries at COP 28.

Representatives of the countries of Central Asia noted the vulnerability of the region to climate change and the intention of the countries of the region to consolidate regional cooperation in combating climate change and maintaining sustainable development.

The presentation of the Regional Statement of the Central Asian countries will help to understand the problems of the region, demonstrate to the world community the unity of the countries of the region in strengthening the dialogue on climate change mitigation and adaptation to its consequences, as well as to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, and will attract climate finance and investments to the countries of the region.
