Regional Electric Grids: key performance indicators for 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Regional Electric Networks Joint Stock Company, established in 2019, manages the enterprises of territorial electrical networks that distribute and sell electrical energy to end consumers.

The structure of Regional Electric Networks includes 12 regional branches and 2 enterprises of territorial (regional) electrical networks (JSC "Bukhara PTES" and JSC "Fergana PTES"), operating electric networks 0.4-6-10-35-110 kV, as well as within the framework of their development, new construction, reconstruction, major and current repairs. In addition, 3 branches are a structural subdivision (the Branch "Center for Automation of the Sale of Electric Energy", the Branch "Development of Public and Contractual Services", the Branch "Public Procurement Center"). This was reported by the press service of JSC "Regional Electric Networks".

To date, from the side of regional branches and enterprises of territorial electrical networks, as well as their 224 district and city power supply enterprises through 1,787 units of substations with a voltage of 110-35 kV, then 96,017 transformer points and power lines, 270.3 thousand km long, supply of electric energy.

Thus, in 2022, Regional Electric Networks JSC supplied 68.0 billion kWh of electricity to household (7.4 million) and legal (390.3 thousand) consumers. The growth rate compared to the same period in 2021 was 105.6%.

In order to better meet the demand and uninterrupted supply of consumers, during the reporting period, planned work was carried out on the overhaul and current repairs of electrical networks. In particular, in order to prepare electric networks for stable operation in the autumn-winter season of 2022/2023, a major overhaul of 28,020.8 km of networks and 9,685 transformer points was carried out, which made it possible to fully fulfill the tasks set for the past period. In addition, as part of the above works, 86 power transformers and 377 circuit breakers were completely repaired at substations with a voltage of 35-110 kV.

As a result of the measures taken, the power supply of almost 3.7 million household consumers and 210 thousand business entities located in more than 3.5 thousand mahallas and villages of the republic was further improved.

During the reporting period, special attention was also paid to the implementation of full-scale work on the implementation of investment projects, digitalization and localization of the production of the necessary electrical devices.

So, according to the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 30, 2021 No. PP-72, last year Regional Electric Grids JSC implemented 5 investment projects for a total of US$84.14 million.

In particular:

"Construction of the second 110 kV transmission line from the Ishtykhan substation to the Gornorudnaya-2 substation." The used capital investments is US$0.22 million.

"Modernization of the system of external power supply of the city of Samarkand". The forecasted volume of used investments – US$8 million at the expense of the Company’s own funds.

"Development and modernization of distribution networks and power supply facilities 0.4-6-10 kV throughout the country." The used capital investments is US$43.8 million.

"Construction of new and modernization of existing power lines (TL) 35-110 kV".

The development of capital investments was carried out in the amount of US$15.8 million.

"Development and implementation of a new billing system in Regional Electric Networks. The used capital investments made up US$13 million.

In addition, for additional projects implemented by the Company, in particular, for the project of external power supply to the SEZ and MPZ, US$13.3 million were disbursed from its own funds.

Over the past period, Regional Electric Grids JSC carried out systematic work to implement the tasks outlined in the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to implement the Obod Qishloq and Obod Mahalla programs in 2022–2026”. Thus, in the course of the inventory carried out to study problems relevant to the population, in order to improve the living conditions of the population living in villages and mahallas of the republic in 1071 out of 9259 mahallas requiring priority inclusion in the Program, work was carried out to upgrade power transmission lines with a total length of 5125, 6 km and modernization of 1063 transformer points. Within the framework of these programs, work was carried out on the construction and repair of electricity networks, in particular, the renewal and reconstruction of 3,087.2 km of power transmission lines and 1,115 transformer points.

As a result of the work carried out to transform the company, as well as efforts to financial recovery in 2022, in the report of the international rating agency Fitch Rating, the international indicative rating of JSC "Regional Electric Grids" was assigned at the level of "BB-" "Stable".

This rating positions JSC "Regional Electric Grids" in the global investment markets as an enterprise with a clear and precise business strategy, a transparent financial position and a strong corporate governance system.

Regional Electric Networks JSC is one of the largest taxpayers in the country. According to preliminary data, in January-December 2022, Regional Electric Grids JSC sent about 1.07 trillion soums of tax payments to the state budget and extra-budgetary funds.
