Referee punished for fixing matches in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Several referees have been disqualified for fixing matches in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).

A special inspectorate for the supervision of football activities of the UFA revealed the involvement of some referees in fixing matches, which influenced the course or results of some matches of the Super League and Pro League of Uzbekistan.

The inspectorate, following the results of the checks, sent to the UFA Ethics Committee information on more than 10 referees, coaches and club officials who are suspected of corruption schemes.

The UFA Ethics Committee held a meeting and decided to dismiss three referees.

In particular, J. Mukhtarov was suspended from any football activity for a period of 5 years for participating in the organization of fixed matches. He also has to pay a fine of 90 million soums.

Referee Temur Tukhtasinov was also suspended for the next football season for participating in the organization of match fixing. At the same time, he was fined for 10 million soums.

Asker Najafaliev will not serve matches until the end of the current season for gross violations in work. The amount of the fine was 70 million soums.

UFA notes that the committee, when making its decision, took into account the assistance of the referee to the work of the special inspection, as well as his ongoing studies and the best performance in the academy of judges of the AFU.

Several assistant judges, inspectors and other authorized persons were also fined.
