Reconstruction of Termez airport to start in end of 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- General reconstruction of Termez Airport, which has international status, will start in the end of 2011. Total cost of the project is US$5.8 million. Uzbekistan Havo Yollari will invest own resources to modernization of airport.

It is planned to complete modernization and reconstruction of largest transport hub in southern Uzbekistan will be completed by the end of 2012. Within the project, it is planned to reconstruct airport building and modernize runway lighting. It is planned fully change internal and external view of waiting hall and hall for receiving official delegations.

Currently, the capacity of the airport is 100 passengers an hour. In 2010, the airport served 57,000 people. After reconstruction and modernization of airport building, the capacity will double.

Termez International Airport provides services on land services to aircrafts, passengers and processes cargos and mail. The airport can accept all types of aircrafts. Maintenance and exploitation of aircrafts at Termez airport corresponds to ICAO standards.

Along with internal flights, Termez Airport serves flights to Moscow and charter flights to Europe and Asia. In 2010, Independent Association “Russkiy Registr” handed over certificate of conformance to quality management system.

From autumn 2002, the airport is important center for transit of cargoes and troops of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) to Afghanistan and vice-versa. Part of the airport is rented by Defence Ministry of Germany.
