Ramadan in Uzbekistan to begin on 1 March

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The holy month of Ramadan in Uzbekistan will begin on 1 March, according to a presidential decree by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, citing the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.

The decree highlights that Ramadan has long been a symbol of kindness, mercy, and generosity for the people of Uzbekistan. The country continues large-scale efforts to ensure freedom of conscience, preserve and pass on Islamic values, and strengthen an atmosphere of peace, interethnic harmony, and religious tolerance.

Special attention is given to supporting low-income citizens and people with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of compassion and social solidarity during this sacred month.

In this regard, responsible organizations have been instructed to:

  • Provide assistance to those in need and support youth seeking knowledge.
  • Promote family values, mutual understanding in mahallas (local communities), and uphold respect, mercy, and humanity.
  • Care for the environment, maintain sacred sites and cemeteries, plant trees, and encourage moderation while avoiding extravagance in Ramadan-related events.
