The "Wereldfolklorade-2007" International festival of folklore dances was held in the Belgian city of Oostrozebeke, Jahon news agency reported.
The 21st festival hosted the creative groups from Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Mongolia, the French Antilles and Uzbekistan. The well-known "Lazgi" dance ensemble presented Uzbekistan at the event.
This group is known to have come out to the stages at many international festivals and demonstrated the wealth of music and dance culture of the Uzbek people around the globe.
In keeping with the tradition, the first day of the festival the participants of the event had passed along the main street of Oostrozebeke, while performing the national songs and dances. In all days of the music action the residents of the city had warmly welcomed the performers rewarding them with tons of applauses.
The main performances of the artists were held at the stage of the "Mandelmeersen" Sporting Complex. Here the Uzbek "Lazgi" ensemble has had a great success. The songs and dances of various regions of Uzbekistan, the masterly skills of performance and bright national costumes of the Uzbek dancers have left much impression with many visitors to the festival.
The Uzbek ensemble has been awarded with the memorable medal of the festival "Werelfolklorade-2007" for the successful performance. The burgomaster of the city of Oostrozebeke J.Bont handed over the medal.
The participants and visitors of the festival have said that the participation of the "Lazgi" group at the folklore dances festival in Belgium allowed to learn about the arts and culture of the Uzbek people, their traditions and customs.
