Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazakhstan’s QazaqGaz plans to start transporting Russian gas to Uzbekistan from October 2023. This was reported by the press service of the company following the visit of the Chairman of the Board Sanzhar Zharkeshov to Atyrau region.

“The head of the national company inspected the progress of preparatory work on the Kazakh section of the main gas pipeline Central Asia - Center for the transportation of Russian gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Gas transit to Uzbekistan is planned to start from October 2023,” the message says, cited by Kazinform.

The company also noted that all technical activities are carried out in full in accordance with the approved schedule.

In mid-July, the Russian company Gazprom and QazaqGaz signed an agreement on the transportation of Russian natural gas for consumers in Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Gazprom stated that they could start delivering gas to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan in the fourth quarter of 2023

In November last year, Russia proposed to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create a "tripartite gas union" to coordinate the commercial interests of the three countries in this area. In January of this year, the Ministries of Energy of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed a cooperation plan with Gazprom.
