The newspaper said that the goal of the visit is to develop bilateral trade-economic and cultural relations.

Chairperson of the City Council of Pyeongtaek city and head of the delegation Song Jong-soo said at the meeting at Tashkent city administration said that Uzbek and Korean people have close culture and a large number of Koreans, living in Uzbekistan, serve as important stimulus for development of relations.

The delegation includes 15 advisors and specialists, specializing in economy, finances and investments to industrial production, logistics and exports.

During the meeting, Song Jong-soo said that Pyeongtaek has developed automobile, metal processing and cargo shipment industries. He said that some 50 trade ships can be served simultaneously at the port of the city. Some 90 million tonnes of freight were transported through port in 2011.

The Uzbek side said that largest transport communications in the Central Asian region pass through Tashkent region, where over 200 enterprises produce high technologic goods, energy and machinery, mining and chemical product. The region increases the volume of exports.

Karim Tilavbaev, first deputy governor of Tashkent region, said that Korea Republic is one of ten largest foreign trade partners of Tashkent region. He said that there are 45 enterprises with Korean capital in Tashkent region with investment volume of over US$38 million.
