Putin officially takes office as President of Russia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Vladimir Putin officially took office as President of Russia for a new six-year term. This was stated by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin.

Putin took the oath before the people. Zorkin gave him symbols of presidential power, including the presidential sign - the golden Cross of St. George with the image of the coat of arms of the Russian Federation.

After taking office, the head of state made a speech.

This is Putin’s fifth term as head of the Russian Federation. His first two terms lasted four years; After amendments were made to the Russian Constitution, the term of office of the head of state was extended to 6 years. Putin served his first six-year term in 2012, and his second in 2018.

Following changes to the Basic Law in 2020, he was able to stand in the 2024 elections, which he won with a record 87.28% of the vote.

Putin’s current term of office will end on May 7, 2030.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova presented the certificate of the Head of State for a new term of office to Putin back in April. After taking the oath, the Presidential Standard is installed in the office of the head of state, and the Presidential Badge is kept in the First Building of the Kremlin in the awards hall.
