In February 2010, within the Social Projects and Initiatives Integration Forum Gulnara was first to announce the launch of the Grant Programme to Support Socially Significant Projects of Regional NGOs in Uzbekistan.

The programme is aimed at financial support of socially significant projects initiated by regional NGOs to enhance efforts in social issues salvation. The programme was attended by registered regional NGOs, which could submit projects in the following areas: the preservation and revival of cultural and national traditions, health, education, infrastructure, ecology, etc.

A special expert council was set up to select and identify the best projects. The council consisted of representatives of NGOs, media, education, culture and arts, clergy, and representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, local authorities and others. All submitted project proposals were considered by the Expert Council collectively by principles of social partnership. According to the principle, each participant has an equal responsibility to implement the socially significant projects of any scale.

Marat Rakhimov, «Aesculapius» NGO, winner (Ferghana region.):
The whole stuff of our NGO was very pleased to be invited to participate in this program. Our organization is engaged in the children infectious diseases prevention. The grant will help us to expand our activity geography and to involve more children to this case. After all, we are working according to the child to child principle. All the children are presented information on infectious diseases prevention in the playing and cognitive way. Having some knowledge, they share it with their peers. We are glad that our project has been evaluated by the Expert Committee. Of course, this is a big responsibility, but I am very glad that our activity is supported, understood and approved.
