Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 3 January 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov met in Riga with the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group with Uzbekistan in the Sejm of Lithuania, Valerius Simulik.
An exchange of views took place on the outcome of the trip of Valerius Simulik to Uzbekistan in December 2019 as an international observer in the elections of deputies to the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes, and prospects for the further development of multifaceted Uzbek-Lithuanian relations were discussed.
The deputy positively assessed the high level of organization of the electoral process in Uzbekistan, which was held under the motto “New Uzbekistan - New Elections”. As was emphasized, this assessment is based on the results of visits to 14 polling stations.
During the conversation, the parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and education. It was especially noted that Lithuania is interested in building up a diplomatic and trade-investment presence in Uzbekistan and developing mutually beneficial partnership with our country in a number of areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the saturation of the agenda of upcoming bilateral contacts, including through parliaments, as well as relevant universities and economic structures of Uzbekistan and Lithuania.
