Prospects for the Development of the Electrical Industry Discussed with the EBRD
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 June 2025, a meeting was held at the "Uzeltekhsanoat" Association between Chairman Mirziyod Yunusov, his deputy Jakhongir Jamalov, and a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by Almaz Toigonboev, the Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia.
During the meeting, EBRD representatives expressed their readiness to allocate concessional financial resources for the implementation of projects by Uzbekistan's electrical industry enterprises aimed at expanding production of new goods and scaling up operations.
To this end, it was agreed that EBRD specialists would assess the financial and technical condition of enterprises, with EBRD experts working directly on-site. Particular attention will be paid to the most efficient and export-oriented companies, which will receive targeted financial support.
The talks also covered issues related to workforce training and upskilling, support for the certification processes of export-focused enterprises, and the potential provision of grant funding for certification during the production of new product lines.
To date, the EBRD has financed more than 170 projects in Uzbekistan, with a total investment exceeding US$5.2 billion, making a significant contribution to the modernization of industrial sectors and the enhancement of the country’s export potential.
This meeting marked the beginning of a new stage in bilateral cooperation, aimed at fostering sustainable growth and boosting the competitiveness of the electrical engineering industry.
