Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 June 2019, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Paris organized a round table in the building of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of France, dedicated to the creation of the Charvak free tourist zone with the participation of a consortium of leading French international companies.
Chimgan and Beldersay ski and recreational complexes, as well as the Nanai ecotourism complex attracting more than US$500 million in investment.
This particular task was set by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Tashkent region in early June.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the companies Orex Loisirs, Compagnie des Alpes, Geode, Egis, Epode, POMA, MND Group and other structures included to the French consortium, which is leading a project to develop a master plan for the creation of a modern tourist zone in the Tashkent region.
In 2018, for the development of this project, including the preparation of a feasibility study, the Government of France allocated grant funds in the amount of 750,000 euros.
In the course of the “round table” a presentation of the developed master plan was held, as well as a further discussion of the further actions from the Uzbek side and the consortium was discussed.
General Director of Orex Loisirs, Philippe Lebrassour, informed about the presentation for the head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the creation of a tourism unit in the Charvak free tourist zone, announcing an agreement on the creation of a special working group consisting of representatives of the involved ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, as well as companies included in the French consortium.
Following the results of the presentation, a “road map” is being prepared for the creation of the Charvak training center, which will indicate the specific stages and deadlines for further development of the recreational zone.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of France expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and its timing. At the same time, the readiness of further financing of projects by French commercial banks, including banks Natixis, CA-CIB, Bpifrance and others, was confirmed.
Representatives of the consortium showed great interest in the implementation of joint projects in Uzbekistan to ensure the integrated realization of the existing potential for the development of winter sports and recreation in Uzbekistan.
Director of International Projects Development for Compagnie des Alpes, Frantsua Marion, emphasized the need for training personnel of the appropriate level to serve recreational areas in Uzbekistan, including in hotel, restaurant and other areas, and expressed his willingness to assist in this direction. It was separately noted that Uzbekistan can become a regional tourist crossroads, which will attract tourists not only from the Eurasian continent, but also from the whole world.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold working meetings on a regular basis to ensure timely implementation and monitoring of ongoing projects. Representatives of the consortium expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to hold talks on a further step for the implementation of joint projects.
