Prospects for supporting and expanding Uzbek construction companies in foreign markets discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade hosted a roundtable titled "Prospects for Supporting and Expanding the Operations of Domestic Construction Companies in Foreign Markets."

The event was attended by the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, along with over 20 executives from local construction companies, who discussed challenges and proposed solutions for the industry’s growth.

The roundtable addressed pressing issues preventing local construction companies from bidding on large-scale projects funded by international financial institutions (IFIs). Currently, 114 projects valued at US$15.5 billion are being implemented with IFI/DFI loans. From January to September 2024, 450 procurement lots were processed, surpassing the projected volume by 18%. Local companies secured 131 contracts totaling US$443.2 million, accounting for 39.4% of all contracts. Efforts are underway to increase this share to 70%.

Entrepreneurs presented 15 practical proposals aimed at fostering local companies’ participation in large IFI-financed projects abroad.

All proposals will be reviewed, and responsible officials have been tasked with intensifying collaboration with international financial institutions to engage local companies in major investment projects.
